Android Studio is the official IDE for Android. It is open source platform released by google licensed under the Apache 2 license. Android studio is fully customised for Android developers. It provides a unified environment where you can build apps for Android phones, tablets, Android Wear, Android TV etc.

Windows requirements :

  • 3 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended
  • 1 GB RAM for the Android Emulator
  • 2 GB of available disk space minimum, 4 GB recommended (500 MB for IDE plus 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image).

Getting Started

Step-1: Go to https://developer.android.com/studio

Step-2: Click on the Download Android Studio button and accept the license and agreement and click Download Button.

 

 

Step-3: Double click on the downloaded .exe file and click Next -> Next -> Next -> Install and wait for it to complete then click Next -> Finish.

Step-4: Now the Android Studio will start automatically, click Next until you see the SDK downloading screen then select the path where you want to download SDK to and click finish it will download SDK automatically and brings you to this screen like this.

 

Now you are good to go and make your feet wet on your journey to Android Development
